In 2007 Tahis Bionic tested with 66.02% lead poisoning in her blood, one of the highest levels recorded in Cerro de Pasco. She started having seizures when she was 6 months old, and her mother, Maria Carhuaricra, said she has had more than one hundred. Tahis Bionica has severe disabilities and is unable to talk or eat normal food. She stays at home while her sisters attend school.
