Dancers of the American Ballet Theater, Leanne Underwood and Thomas Forster, try some ballet moves at the beach during the first trip of the ABT to Cuba in 50 years in Playa del Este on Nov. 1, 2010. The ABT performed along with other ballet companies at the 22nd International Ballet Festival in Havana. The Cuban National Ballet was founded by Alicia Alonso, originally a principal dancer for the ABT in New York, and the festival was held in her honor. Cultural exchanges have increased between Cuba and the United States since President Obama loosened restrictions on travel to the communist island which were put in place by President Bush.
