A a grove  of Scots pines (Pinus sylvestris) are seen along Denecourt Trail number 11 West (sentier Denecourt n°11 ouest, Le Rocher des Étroitures) in the Fontainebleau forest of France. Pines and other conifers are not native to the forest of Fontainebleau. Deciduous leafy trees dominated the forest until the 19th century, when major pine planting was initiated by the French government.
